World Biennales: Field Trip 2026 (T3)
Enrolments are now open for a two-week international field trip designed for continuing School of Art & Design undergraduate
BFA students enrolled in Visual Art or Art Theory, and continuing MCCL postgraduate students.
The 2026 program comprises a two-week immersion at the Venice Biennale in Italy, the world's leading contemporary art exhibition.
Through first-hand experience of multiple contemporary art exhibitions from many parts of the world, the course provides insight
and knowledge about current international approaches to art and exhibition-making. The Field Trip will also include a dedicated
program focusing on Khaled Sabsabi's exhibition for Australia's national pavilion, made possible through UNSW Faculty of Arts,
Design and Architecture's role as education partner.
Dates: 8 -18 September inclusive
In addition to the above dates, there will be an online introductory lecture in T2, and a second online meeting just prior
to travelling. As the travel dates include the last week of the Spring break and first week of Term 3, students enrolled in
the course will be excused without penalty for other T3 Week 1 classes in School of Art & Design courses. Students enrolled
in courses outside of the School of Art & Design must seek approval from their relevant course convenor(s) to be absent in
week 1 of T3.
The course is aimed at students who meet the following academic entry criteria:
POSTGRADUATE - SAHT6700
MCCL students who have completed at least one term (12 UOC) and have a WAM of 70+
If you do not meet the criteria as above, please email the course convenor to discuss your individual situation before enrolling:
Professor Felicity Fenner - f.fenner@unsw.edu.au
Costs: An additional up-front fee (around $600) is required to cover the cost of delivering a course overseas. Students are
individually responsible for visa, travel and accommodation arrangements and costs. Please ensure that any travel bookings
made in advance are flexible and refundable. In the event that the field trip has to be cancelled or the dates changed for
any reason, UNSW will not assume responsibility for any costs associated with changed or cancelled travel or accommodation
bookings. Note that once the Field Trip commences, all enrolled students are covered when travelling overseas by UNSW insurance
(with the exception of personal items such as phones, cameras and laptops). |
