Pure Pu'er is a four-week offshore design studio based in Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, delivered by UNSW Art & Design in partnership
with Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (SFAI), Dimensions Art Centre (DAC), and Studio ESEM. Supported by Australian Government
New Colombo Plan (NCP) funding, the program places students directly alongside Pu'er's local communities, government and creative
practitioners to address real urban and rural regeneration challenges in Yunnan.
Students undertake a four-week, on-site studio addressing site-specific design briefs co-developed with local partners.
The program combines:
Studio-based design work responding to real regeneration briefs
Direct fieldwork with local communities and ethnic groups in Yunnan
Collaborative practice alongside Chinese students and professionals in art, design, architecture, digital media, interaction
design and urban design
Structured engagement with local governance, planning and cultural industry partners
Public exhibition of student work in China and Australia.
