Prof FM Fenner |
09-OCT-2025 |
Lecturers: Prof. Felicity Fenner & Associate Prof. Uros Cvoro
A two week international field trip open to continuing Art & Design undergraduate BFA
students enrolled in Visual Art or Art Theory, and continuing MCCL postgraduate students.
The 2025 program offers first-hand experience of two leading contemporary art exhibitions in
Asia: the Taipei Biennial in Taiwan and the Shanghai Biennale in China. The course provides
an understanding of contemporary approaches to art and exhibition-making. Dates:
Taipei: 25 to 28 November inclusive (course commences evening of 25 November)
Shanghai: 2 to 5 December inclusive (course resumes morning of 2 December)
In addition to the above dates, there will be an online introductory lecture in Week 1 of T3,
and a second online meeting towards the end of T3 prior to travelling.
The course is aimed at students who meet the following academic entry criteria:
UNDERGRAUATE (DART3342)
Students enrolled in Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Theory and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual
Arts who have completed at least 48 UOC.
Other ADA students may be admitted if places are available: Be sure to check first with your
School that this course will count as an eligible elective in your degree.
If you do not meet the criteria as above, please email the course convenor to discuss your
individual situation before enrolling: Professor Felicity Fenner f.fenner@unsw.edu.au
Before enrolling, also check visa requirements for Taiwan and China. UNSW will not assume
any responsibility for students who are denied entry to either country.
Note that once the Field Trip commences, all enrolled students are covered when travelling
overseas by UNSW insurance (with the exception of personal items such as phones, cameras
and laptops). More detail will be provided in T3 Week 1 and on Moodle when T3 starts.
Costs: You are responsible for your own travel and accommodation arrangements and
associated costs. In the past, students have set up a WhatsApp group and shared travel tips,
accommodation, etc. An additional up-front fee ($500-$600) is due by 30 June, to cover the
cost of delivering a course overseas. Failure to pay will result in unenrolment.
The fine print: Please ensure that any travel bookings made in advance are flexible and
refundable. In the event that the field trip has to be cancelled or the dates changed for any
reason, UNSW will not assume responsibility for any costs associated with changed or
cancelled travel or accommodation bookings. |
